Replacement in your Acura Integra

    • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent any electrical shorts or accidents. This is crucial for safety.
    • Remove obstructing parts such as the air intake assembly and other parts.
    • The alternator is on the front of the engine and accessible from the top.
    • Loosen the belt tensioner.  This is done by loosening a bolt on the bracket, allowing the alternator to move and release tension on the belt.
    • Remove the drive belt from the pulley.
    • Unplug the electrical connectors from the back of the alternator. There may be a clip and a few bolts securing these.
    • Remove the bolts that hold it in place. There are typically two or three bolts, one of which may be a part of the tensioner assembly.
    • Carefully take it out of the engine bay. It might be a bit tight, so some gentle maneuvering may be necessary.
    • Position the new alternator in place and secure it with the mounting bolts. Do not fully tighten these bolts yet if you need to adjust the position for belt tension.
    • Reconnect the electrical connectors.
    • Place the drive belt back over the pulley.
    • Adjust the position to achieve the correct belt tension.
    • Once the belt is properly tensioned, tighten all bolts securely.

Final Checks:

    • Double-check all connections, ensuring everything is tight and secure.
    • Reconnect the negative battery terminal.

Final Thoughts

This is a manageable job for your Acura Integra saving you time and money.  Driving without something charging your battery may get you stuck somewhere, don’t drive the car until this is completed.
