Common BMW Problems
Oil leaks valve cover gasket, oil filter housing gasket and oil pan gasket leaks are common; an oil filter housing leak can soak the serpentine belt.
Cooling system plastic expansion tanks, electric water pumps and thermostats fail with age and cause overheating warnings.
Timing chain guides some 2.0 L four-cylinder (N20) engines from around 2012–2015 wear timing chain guides; a whine is the warning sign.
VANOS and misfires variable valve timing faults and ignition coils trigger rough running. See BMW check engine light.
Battery registration a new battery must be registered to the car so the charging system treats it correctly.
No heat water pump, thermostat or heater valve. See no heat in your BMW.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can you code and register parts on my BMW?
Yes. We register new batteries and carry out the coding needed after replacing many modules and components.
Why is my BMW leaking oil?
Most often the valve cover gasket, the oil filter housing gasket or the oil pan gasket. We find the source and check whether the leak has reached belts or hoses.
Is my BMW’s oil change interval too long?
BMW’s Condition Based Service can allow long intervals. In stop-and-go GTA driving, many owners choose shorter intervals to protect the timing chain and VANOS system.
Do you service BMW xDrive?
Yes, including transfer case and differential fluids, which BMW often lists as lifetime but which benefit from changes on high-kilometre cars.
Will having the work done at an independent shop affect my warranty?
No. Using an independent shop for maintenance and repairs does not void your new-vehicle warranty. Keep your invoices; we document the parts and work on every job.
