⚡ Servicing your car at an independent shop does not void your vehicle warranty — protected under Canadian consumer protection law.
By the Radman Auto Repair team, independent auto repair in Etobicoke since 1999 · Updated October 2026
Electric cars need less maintenance than gas cars, not none. Brakes rust from low use, heavy EVs wear tires fast, and the 12V battery and battery coolant still need care. Radman Auto Repair services Teslas and every other EV in Etobicoke, with high-voltage trained technicians and honest diagnosis.
Quick answer: EVs need yearly brake service, regular tire rotations and alignment, cabin filters, coolant at the scheduled interval and a 12V battery check. Independent service does not affect your warranty.
At a glance
- Brakes: clean and lubricate yearly; they seize from low use
- Tires: rotate about every 10,000 km; check alignment yearly
- 12V battery: test yearly; a weak one can strand an EV
- Coolant & cabin filter: at the intervals in the maintenance schedule
- Warranty: independent maintenance keeps it intact

Frequently Asked Questions
Do electric cars need maintenance?
Yes, just less of it. EVs skip oil changes, but brakes, tires, alignment, suspension, cabin filters, coolant for the battery and electronics, and the 12V battery all need regular service.
Can an independent shop work on an EV safely?
Yes, with high-voltage training and the right procedures. Our technicians follow isolation procedures and use insulated tools for any high-voltage work, and most EV maintenance does not touch the high-voltage system at all.
Which EVs do you service?
Tesla, Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6, Kia EV6 and EV9, Ford Mustang Mach-E, Chevrolet Bolt, Volkswagen ID.4, Nissan Ariya, Polestar, Audi e-tron, Lucid and other EVs.
Why do EV brakes need service if they barely wear?
Because they barely get used. Regenerative braking does most of the slowing, so the friction brakes rust and seize in salt. A yearly clean and lube prevents it.
Does servicing my EV here void the battery warranty?
No. EV battery warranties, typically 8 years or 160,000 km, cover defects. Independent maintenance does not affect them.
Do you fix high-voltage battery problems?
We diagnose warnings and charging faults, and we tell you honestly when a problem is a battery warranty or recall item for the dealer.
