Acura Maintenance Notes
- Follow the Maintenance Minder; it accounts for how you drive.
- Acura V6 engines use a timing belt, usually replaced with the water pump and tensioner.
- SH-AWD rear differentials need Acura-spec fluid at the interval shown by the Maintenance Minder.
- Use Honda/Acura-spec transmission fluid; universal fluids cause shift problems.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do you have experience with Acura SH-AWD?
Yes. We service SH-AWD rear differentials and transfer units with the correct Acura fluid and diagnose the shudder and noise that overdue fluid causes.
When does my Acura need a timing belt?
Acura V6 engines use a timing belt; the Maintenance Minder shows when it is due, typically on a long interval. We replace the belt, tensioner and water pump together.
Why is the D4 light flashing on my Acura?
The transmission computer has stored a fault. See our Acura rough shift guide, and have the codes read before the problem gets worse.
Can you work on older Acuras like the TL and MDX?
Yes. Older Acuras are a large part of our work, and our DIY guides cover their most common problems.
Will having the work done at an independent shop affect my warranty?
No. Using an independent shop for maintenance and repairs does not void your new-vehicle warranty. Keep your invoices; we document the parts and work on every job.
